Brad Bird speaks about shooting a movie with IMAX cameras
Brad Bird is an Oscar-winning Director, who has just made his action debut on the big screen. This first movie titled Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011) is already gathering positive reviews worldwide, though it will be released only in theaters only next week. One of the special thriller’s features was its filming with IMAX cameras. Brad Bird himself in the following Featurette is sharing his view over the work and its challenges.
In this video Brad Bird notes that it was his intention to use the IMAX cameras to create an immersive feeling and an HD-quality for the picture. Nearly 25 minutes of the movie were filmed in IMAX, what is a few less than in the case of The Dark Knight (2008), which also relied on the IMAX technique heavily. Big screen sizes offered filmmakers an opportunity to make the action truly breathtaking, and Brad Bird tried to make his dream vision to look as real as possible.
Brad Bird states in the Interview that his goal was to involve the viewers into action with the help of notable special effects, and Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol features many of them. The worldwide release of the film is scheduled to start on the 16th of December, 2011, but only for IMAX theaters, while the 2D-version of this movie will arrive only 5 days later.
