Deceiving Memories
New Sci-Fi Action movie Total Recall, Review of which will provide you with extensive overlook at this fresh remake of the original classics starring Arnold Schwarzenegger combines spectacular visuals with a pretty straightforward and uninspiring plot in comparison to its legendary predecessor.
American Sci-Fi writer Philip K. Dick (1928-1982) brought a lot of intriguing books to his readers, including around fifty novels and gave the readers a lot of interesting stories, including about fifty novels and more than a hundred of short stories. Since 2010, the publisher Subterranean Press in the U.S. was engaged in a re-release of all the original works out of his created collection. Philip K. Dick did not live up to the first movie premiere based on one of his plots. Now that’s the genre’s classics known as Blade Runner (1982). This one was followed by several other film adaptations including Minority Report (2002), Paycheck (2003) and The Adjustment Bureau (2011).
For the fourth year Walt Disney Studios holds a license for the animated film King of the Elves (TBA), but only one story by Philip K. Dick was honored to get two movie adaptations. Sci-Fi thriller Total Recall (1990) starring Arnold Schwarzenegger is now considered a real classic of the genre, which can be watched over and over again. The attempt to develop on its success for a TV series titled Total Recall 2070 (1999) has failed, and the show didn’t stay on air for long with its own version of the events. Years after a whole new team was assembled to create this remake named Total Recall (2012) based on the old plot of We Can Remember It For You Wholesale (1966).
The producers of new creation are Toby Jaffe and Neal H. Moritz best known for the The Fast and the Furious (2001-2011) franchise. Directed by Len Wiseman, who staged first two episodes of the Underworld (2003-2012) saga, while producing two next ones. Also he filmed Live Free or Die Hard (2007) action movie. The remake’s script is still based on the original film’s idea by Dan O’Bannon, Jon Povill and Ronald Shusett. That story was reworked by Kurt Wimmer and Mark Bomback.
While making a Total Recall remake the investors were changing, but left main issue was a contender for the leading male role. Amongst the actors on the lookout were scouted Jeremy Renner of the The Avengers (2012), Michael Fassbender of the Prometheus (2012) thrillers and Tom Hardy, who appeared in This Means War (2012), The Dark Knight Rises (2012). As a result, the competition was confidently won by one of the most famous Irishmen in Hollywood named Colin Farrell.
This actor starred in such well-known films as Minority Report, Phone Booth (2003), also SWAT (2003), Alexander (2004), Miami Vice (2006), Horrible Bosses (2011) and Fright Night (2011). Colin Farrell has not being filmed in a leading role in an expensive action movie for a long time. However, his female counterparts in the new movie are very familiar to this genre. For example, Jessica Biel has already tried various roles, including horror flick ones, and late in August her new thriller Tall Man (2012) is due to be released.
