The official HD-trailer for the new Sci-Fi War Epic titled Battleship (2012). In this blockbuster brought by such studios as the Bluegrass Films, Film 44, Hasbro and Universal Pictures a big battle will unfold on land and at sea between the U.S. Navy sailors fighting off the alien invaders. When astronauts launched their Lighthouse project led by Dr. Nogrady (Adam Godley), they couldn’t guess that their simple greeting message would serve as an invitation to agressive beings mailing back to Earth the attacking scout party meant to establish a first base sending a signal back home. These group of amphibious ships were just supposed to provide cover for upcoming large-scale interplanetary invasion.

At this time the world still lives a normal life introducing two Hopper brothers to the publich. The first one is Stone Hopper (Alexander Skarsgard), who quickly rose to the rank of captain of the American ship USS Sampson. His troubled relative, Alex Hopper (Taylor Kitsch), leads a hooligan lifestyle, even getting into trouble because of falling for the daughter of Vice Admiral Shane (Liam Neeson) named Samantha (Brooklyn Decker). As a punishment, Stone sends his delinquent brother to serve in the U.S. Navy. A few years later, the rookie was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant managing John Paul Jones’ weaponry at the destroyer. He can’t get enough courage to ask Shane the permission to marry his daughter, while still making mistakes and failing to attend to all the responsibilities properly.

During the new naval international training course titled RIMPAC the destroyers and battleships of the U.S. and Japan Navy sail to the Pacific Ocean. The invasion seals off a small group of coalition ships within an Impenetrable force field established by aliens. With disabled communication and targeting system the Navy newbies will have to face the threat of a packof technologically advanced enemy vessels, yet having their own weaknesses. Battleship movie is based on the board game universe, which appeared for the fist time in 1931. Now the brand is owned by Hasbro.

The original game is popular all over the world, and in the film the fate of the humankind will be decided by a few brave men: a more experienced captain Nagata (Tadanobu Asano), targeting specialist Cora Raikes (Rihanna), communication officer Ordy (Jesse Plemons) and an engineer nicknamed «The Beast» (John Tui). Later on they are joined by a team of veteran sailors aboard the USS Missouri famous battleship.

By chance, Alex Hopper from the Battleship film becomes the Captain of the John Paul Jones destroyer, and on land his team is aided by the girlfriend Sam, a disabled Afghan war veteran Mick Canales (Gregory D. Gadson), who is a real  while acting Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army, as well as by a Project Manager named Cal Zapata (Hamish Linklater), who is now heading the Saddle Ridge international satellite station located in Hawaii.

Of course, the armchair generals will always be at present, sitting at their round tables and discussing the latest news about the war. Among the recognizable faces here you will see the unnamed U.S. Secretary of Defence (Peter MacNicol) and the NASA’s Director attending the emergency committee portrayed by David Jensen.

The production of the Battleship movie cost around 200 mln. USD. Its Director is Peter Berg, who worked with TV projects and motion pictures including the War Drama named The Kingdom (2007) and the Sci-Fi Action Comedy titled Hancock (2008), which earned nearly 625 mln. USD in the box office.
