The Official HD-Trailer in English for the Sci-Fi thriller titled Total Recall (2012) brought by the studios Original Film and Columbia Pictures. Remake of the movie, which was released in 1990 starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and based on one novel by Philip K. Dick known as We Can Remember It For You Wholesale (1966). A short-lived Canadian TV series was then released afterwards as Total Recall 2070 (1999).

The producers of the new remake are Toby Jaffe and Neal H. Moritz. The latter one is well-known for his involvement with The Fast and the Furious (2001-2011) franchise. The film was directed by Len Wiseman contributing a lot to the Undeworld (2003-2012) series staging its first two parts and producing two next ones. He also filmed Live Free or Die Hard (2007) action title.

Total Recall remake is adapted from the original film idea of Dan O’Bannon, Jon Povill and Ronald Shusett. The hired writer for this challenge was Kurt Wimmer working with the story of the previous Total Recall (1990) film as a basis. Mark Bomback then has provided additional writing. Contenders for the leading role included Michael Fassbender of the Prometheus (2012) thriller, Tom Hardy out of This Means War (2012) action comedy, The Dark Knight Rises (2012) gothical drama and also Jeremy Renner featured in the latest The Avengers (2012) blockbuster.

Irishman Colin Farrell was victorious this time. Previously, he starred in such films as Minority Report (2002), Phone Booth (2003), SWAT (2003), also Alexander (2004), Miami Vice (2006), Horrible Bosses (2011) and Fright Night (2011). The new version rejects many changes that the first movie made to the original novel, while staying closer to its source. The future world lives after a brutal Third World War finished, where chemical warfare was used. As a result, just two regions survived and can be considered good enough for people to live in.

These are the United Federation of Britain (UFB) and The Colony, situated on the island of modern Australia. Workers sell their labor force to the rich employers from the UFB. One of such people in the Total Recall film is Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell). The only way to move between two territories is The Fall – a huge elevator traveling close to the planet’s core. Doug is bothered by nightmares every night, and during days he works at a Droid’s Factory helping to assemble robots, which at that time serve mainly as cops, but also can replace human workforce. He lives with his beautiful wife Lori (Kate Beckinsale). In real life she is married to the director Len Wiseman.

While seeking answers to his questions, Douglas wishes to visit the Total Rekall to cleanse his nightmares and upload some pleasant memories instead. There he meets the manager Bob McClain (John Cho), who promises an unforgettable journey. However, soon a police squad breaches in, and during the course of a fight Douglas understands that he is not, who he thinks he is. In addition, during his night dreams he is often seen fighting alongside charming Melina (Jessica Biel).

On a global scale the story of Total Recall creates a rivalry for domination between the UFB Chancellor named Vilos Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston) performed by an actor, who provided VO for the Vitaly tiger in the animated film Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted (2012) and the Resistance forces leader Matthias (Bill Nighy), who also recently appeared in the melodrama The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011) and in the past took a significant part in a few films of the Pirates of the Caribbean (2003-2011) franchise.

Douglas is looking for his memories trying to uncover his past in the present, but his friend, worker Harry (Bokeem Woodbine), strongly discourages him from such experiments. At the same time, the UFB is planning a military invasion to destroy The Colony and its populace. Len Wiseman once again collaborates with some people he used to work with, when making the Underworld films. These also includes the stars Kate Beckinsale and Bill Nighy. With a budget of 125 mln. USD so far the movie managed to gross nearly 72 mln. USD.

The chosen cinematograper was the canadian named Paul Cameron, who shot the Collateral (2004) action movie. Total Recall film Soundtrack is mixing electronic music with the guitar sounds recorded by famous British composer Harry Gregson-Williams, who also delivered the music for the Prometheus thriller. Here he again worked together with the Welsh band called Hybrid, with whom he recorded the album for Cowboys & Aliens (2011) title.
