The Official HD-trailer for the new American Sci-Fi epic titled John Carter (2012). In this movie brought by the Walt Disney Pictures studio you will learn about the fate of the American Civil War (1861-1865) veteran named John Carter (Taylor Kitsch). One treasure hunt leads him to an unexpected trip to another planet on the other side of the Solar system. When on Mars, John Carter finds himself in the middle of a war between the cities of Helium and Zodanga. Devious tyrant Sab Than (Dominic West) has nearly enslaved the whole world of Barsoom.
The last unconquered bastion of resistance here is the science city of Helium led by the aging Jeddak. The master Tardos Mors (Ciarán Hinds) is almost ready to surrender, lay down the weapons and give his only daughter away to the war marriage. The Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins) is meant to be sacrificed to the agressor to end the war between the two tribes. However, little does he know about Sab Than already securing an alliance with the mysterious Order of Holy Therns, considering themselves to be the Gods of Mars, managing life on this and other planets. The Sect is headed by the mighty Matai Shang (Mark Strong), who pursues his own goals in the world.
Meanwhile, in the John Carter movie the hero from Earth successfully finds shelter in a warband of Tharks, led an experienced ruler – Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe). The latter readily accepts the newcomer to the tribe, which has its own story. The Tarks’ chief is secretly hiding his daughter Sola (Samantha Morton) from the merciless rival Tal Hadjus (Thomas Haden Church). They don’t suspect John Carter being able to change their destiny forever making them engage in a large-scale war in times of great strife on Mars.
At the same time on the Earth the nephew of suddenly dying John Carter named Edgar Rice Burroughs (Daryl Sabara) comes to his estate to research the left diaries looking for answers to the questions about the amazing interplanetary voyages. This story is an adaptation of the famous series of Sci-Fi novels of the Barsoom (1912-1964) line-up created by the American writer – Edgar Rice Burroughs, in particular, the first book of the series – A Princess of Mars (1912).
The epic film John Carter had been delayed for several decades before it went to production. Its new director is Andrew Stanton, the famous Animation guru, which brought him two Oscars. Having much experience working for the Pixar animation studio and Sony Pictures Animation he tried to finish, what his colleagues couldn’t. The movie even stars Jon Favreau in a small cameo, who was a previous Director of the project. About all the second plan characters we can distinguish the Tharks’ evil warrior Sarkoja (Polly Walker), the Helium captain, Kantos Kan (James Purefoy) and a Civil War colonel, Powell (Bryan Cranston), whom Carter delivered a lot of trouble on Earth.
Running Time: 1 minute и 38 seconds.
